Who I work with

LGBTQ+ affirming care

You should not have to spend the first session teaching your therapist the vocabulary. I work from an affirming, informed stance: your identity is not a symptom, and it is not the problem to be solved.

What we work on is whatever you bring — which is often the ordinary, difficult business of living, and sometimes the specific weight of doing it in a world that has opinions.

What we work on

  • Coming out again and again, to new people and new rooms
  • Family responses that range from clumsy to cutting
  • Minority stress, hypervigilance, and the cost of code-switching
  • Relationships, dating, and chosen family
  • Workplaces, schools, and family events where you weigh how out to be
  • Faith and culture, and holding both parts of yourself at once

How I work with this

My job is to be useful, not to be congratulated for being accepting. That means doing my own homework and asking rather than assuming — about your labels, your relationships, and what you want your life to look like.

When a problem is internal, we work on it. When the problem is the world around you, we name it accurately instead of turning it into something wrong with you.

Sessions are held by secure video for clients anywhere in Colorado, Arizona, Maine, Minnesota and Idaho.
